I initially said that once we reached 10 web members I would give away one FREE Halloween costume. Well, I was so happy to reach the 10 members as fast as I did that I decided to give the first 11 members ALL a free Halloween costume! Congratulations to 11 amazing people!

Now these winners have another opportunity to get a free toy! If they send me a picture of their pet in their new costume I will give them a free squeaky toy! I really hope I get these pictures because I want to use them on my website and on my blog... oh and on my Facebook fan page!

Bean wore this costume like a champ... He loves clothes, so it wasn't a difficult task.. He doesn't exactly like his picture taken 1000000 times like I did for this little photo shoot... lol...

Ode to Bean

Our time as foster parents has been awesome. The little dog Bean came into our lives scared and timid, but he leaves a confident and more socialized dog. He, just like any dog, has his issues, but he has come a LONG way! He's the best! He will walk with you, run with you, and even keep up with you if you ride a bike! I couldn't have asked for more in this tiny package!

When we first got Bean he was scared of everything! He also hated being crated and he peed and popped everywhere! I have only had bigger dogs, so I had no idea what I was in for. We watch a lot of Dog Whisperer so I immediately went to work using some of Ceasar's techniques.

Now, Bean can be crated with no problem and no all-night barking. He also responds really well to the "ssssht" method when being corrected. He doesn't poop or pee everywhere anymore and he loves being outside. He also has done a lot better being around another dog (our big Australian cattle dog Otto).

All in all, it has been a great and heartwarming adventure. Sadly though, we have no choice but to give him back to the rescue since we are having to move. We are in the process of a short sale with our house and we are scheduled to move before Oct. 4th! Where we are moving too we can't take all 4 animals (2 dogs, including Bean, and 2 cats)...

I would love to see Bean get a forever home instead of going back to another rescue. If you're interested in fostering or accepting Bean into your home for forever please let me know ASAP! I will probably only  have him for about a week or so. After that he will be with another rescue. He would be perfect being the only pet in the house, but he's done pretty well being with 3 other animals. He also would be best without small kids, but he's been fine with our 2 and 4 year old. (He just is only snuggly with adults and the kids want to snuggle but Bean doesn't want too).

A fancy bed and some costumes!!!

I have wanted to set some time aside to work on more complicated pet beds. Sewing a simple bed may not be the most difficult thing in the world, but it is time consuming. Working on a bed that has more details requires even more work, but as always, I had a great time making it. 

So, here is my latest bed. It's small but fancy. The beaded trim adds a touch of class to this polka dot cotton fabric. It's soft and comfortable. The funny thing about pet beds in the traditional pillow form is that they really aren't anything more than that, a pillow. My husband even asked me what I was making the pillow for. He assumed it wasn't a pet bed. It could be because it's smaller than my usual bed, but I didn't have enough trimming to make it any bigger. So, I figured, for my first trimmed bed in some time, this size was perfect. 

The ending product is 18 inches by 13 inches, approx, and it's sits 7 inches off the floor  (because it's jammed packed with stuffing!) Let me know what you think! :)

Ok now on to the new costumes. Some are pretty much only for smaller dogs, and some could be used with larger dogs. I wanted to have a picture of each costume on a dog, but I figured if I waited to blog about the costumes for those pictures than it would be Halloween before you heard about them. Oh, and the costumes can also be worn by cats too!!

This is China's best attempt at a "soldier" costume... I guess it could work... If you get some cool accessories to add (like some dog tags) it would really make this costume cool! 

This picture doesn't do this costume justice. The jacket is pretty cool and it makes the costume. You could use it without the hat and people would know your dog was a police dog for Halloween! The hat, though it looks like a top hat, can be worn a few different ways too. 

This is one of the costumes that is great for big and little dogs. It's the bandanna with a hat. The bandanna connects with velcro but that could easily be adjusted with ribbon for dogs with larger necks. I'm pretty sure we're using this one for our Australian Cattle Dog this year!

This cowboy costume is definitely a favorites and I might switch my Aussie into this one instead. It's the same concept as the pirate, bandanna and hat. It's cute because it's a clearly understood costume! Simple yet effective. I love it. 

This is China's variation of a fireman... It actually is a little more believable when you take the costume out of the package and see the yellow lines all down the jacket's back like reflective stripes. However, I would buy this costume and claim it to be a fisherman' costume... lol... It's cute. Oh and on this costume the hat is sewn to the jacket so it's more likely to stay on your pet's head versus the costumes that don't.
